Pre-Procedure Instructions

Microblading is a multi-session process. You will require a follow-up visit no sooner than 4-6 weeks after the first treatment. Please allow time for all permanent makeup procedures  to heal before any special events or vacations.

Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly larger, sharper, brighter, or  darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition, based on how  quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates. Brows and eyes can be up to 30% lighter and lips maybe  up to 50% lighter.

• Any waxing, tweezing, threading, or tinting should be done at least 48 hours before the  procedure. Do not have any waxing, tweezing, threading, or tinting for the 2 weeks following. Electrolysis not for two weeks prior. These guidelines are to prevent surface irritation or under  the skin inflammation on the permanent makeup procedure day.

• Botox appointments should be timed two weeks before or after the eyebrow tattoo date so the  brows are already healed, or else time the eyebrow permanent makeup date 2 months after the  Botox to reduce the chance of fresh toxins floating under the skin while healing from the brow  tattoo.

• NO ALCOHOL for 2 days prior to the procedure.

• DO NOT work out the day of the procedure.

• DO NOT tan or have sunburned face.

• DO NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil or Ibuprofen 48 hours prior to procedure.

• NO alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.

• Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

If you are under a Doctor’s care for any reason please notify us before scheduling your procedure!

• If you take medication to see the Dentist, please do so on the day of your procedure just as you  would if you had a Dentist appointment.

• If you are on blood thinners, we require a note from your Doctor allowing you to go off of them  for 3 days prior to your procedure and the note must also have the Doctors approval for the  procedure (Please make sure you stop taking these 3 full days prior to your appointment)

• If you have had any type of surgery within the past 6 months or will have in the next 6 months,  please provide a Doctor’s note.

• If your Doctor has you on aspirin every day, we will need your Doctor’s approval in written form  for you to stop taking the aspirin.

• If you are under treatment for any form of cancer, you must wait until your treatment is  complete. It is recommended to get permanent makeup before you start any cancer treatment.

Permanent makeup is NOT recommended for any clients who are or have:

It can take a little time for the eyebrow tattoo to soften up, and to see how the color is going to hold. After the scabbing is gone, brow powder can be used to blend any spots that did not hold the pigment well. A follow-up 30 to 45 days after the procedure is required for retention of pigment. Do not dye, wax, tweeze, or use electrolysis for 2 weeks in the cosmetic tattoo area. You can tweeze outside/around the permanent makeup.

• Slight cooling of the skin a few times after a permanent makeup procedure can be done by  applying a cold pack that has been placed in the refrigerator (not freezer) on the procedure are.  Place a damp paper towel between your skin and the pack.

-Cold packs are contraindicated for anyone with poor skin circulation, Raynaud’s, cold  allergy/ cold urticaria, and other skin/ vascular/ blood disorders that react to cold  temperatures.

• Ibuprofen or your favorite pain reliever may be used to reduce swelling and discomfort.

• A permanent makeup procedure is essentially a wound. Redness, swelling, tenderness,  drainage, itching, and scabbing are all normal and part of the healing process.

• Avoid strenuous activity for 2 days and heavy sweating for 10 days. Increased blood pressure  and dilated blood vessels increases swelling and discharge and can fade pigment prematurely.  Also, the salts in sweat can irritate the affected area.

• Avoid environments that would cause dirt or germs to contact area while healing.

• Do not expose the area to full pressure of the shower.

• Keep the area clean to prevent infection. Blot or rinse off any drainage. Cleanse the area and  apply ointment as directed. Scabs that dry out take longer to heal off.

• No Scrubbing. Do not rub, wipe, or scratch area. Use patting motions only.

• Sleep on your back as much as possible. The procedure area is essentially wounded.  Compressed tissue does not get an adequate flow of blood and oxygen for healing. Sleeping on your face or side can cause more swelling, drainage, or color loss.

• Do not peel or pick at any scabbing, this could cause pigment loss, scarring, and delayed healing. Allow any scabbing to fall off naturally.

• Do not expose the area to the sun or tanning bed while healing. Use of sunblock after healing is  completed will help prevent premature fading.

• Do not swim in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water for 2 weeks.

• Do not apply any topical cosmetics or beauty products to area while healing. Use only the  cleanser and ointment specified by your technician.

• NO facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

Long term care

• Use a good sunscreen on your eyebrows if you plan to be in the sun for prolonged periods of  time. Sun exposure will fade your permanent cosmetics.

• If you are planning a chemical peel, laser procedure or an MRI scan, please inform the technician  of your permanent cosmetics.

• The use of Retin-A/Tretinoin or any other rapid skin exfoliation products used regularly on the  forehead area will cause the permanent makeup to the eyebrow area to fade prematurely. • The use of chemical peels and acid peels regularly on the forehead region can also cause  eyebrow tattoos to fade prematurely.

• Many anti-aging products and services containing acids, lighteners, and exfoliants cause  premature fading of pigment. Avoid pigmented area. Stay about 1/4 inch away from permanent  makeup.

• Do not have laser hair removal or Fotofacial too close to the pigmented area to avoid an accidental hit. Inform your technician that you have permanent makeup.
